    This part of the IEC 61850 series specifies a life format for describing communication related IED (Intelligent Devices ) configurations and IED parameters, communication system configurations, switchyard (function) structure, and the relations between them. The main purpose of this format is to exchange IEC capability descriptions, and SA system descriptions between IED engineering tools and the system engineering tool(s) of different manufactures in a compatible way.
