Standards

The purpose of these abbreviations is to provide uniform contractions of terms relating to plastics. Abbreviated terminology has evolved through widespread common usage. This compilation of abbreviated nomenclature has been prepared to avoid the occurrence of ore than one abbreviation for a given plastics term, and double meanings for particular abbreviations.

This specification covers poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) pipe made in standard thermoplastic pipe dimension ratios and pressure rated for water (see Appendix). Included are criteria for classifying PVC plastic pipe materials and PVC plastic pipe, a system of nomenclature for PVC plastic pipe, and requirements and test methods for materials, workmanship, dimensions, sustained pressure, burst pressure, flattening, and extrusion quality. Methods of marking are also given.

The products covered by this specification are intended for use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only, which are chemically compatible with the piping materials. Due to inherent hazards associated with testing components and systems with compressed air or other compressed gases, some manufacturers do not allow pneumatic testing of their products. Consult with specific product/component manufacturers for their specific testing procedures prior to pneumatic testing.

This standard specifies the quality requirements of tomatoes of varieties (cultivars) grown from Lycopersicum esculentum Mill., which are to be supplied fresh to the consumer after reparation and packaging. The standard does not apply to tomatoes for industrial processing. Tomatoes covered under this standard may be classified into four commercial types: a) “round”; b) “ribbed”; c) “oblong” or “elongated”; and d) “cherry” tomatoes (including “cocktail” tomatoes).

This standard stipulates the areas that shall be covered by written product warranties or guarantees, offered by manufacturers, importers, retailers or other vendors in connection with the sale of any goods. It indicates the way in which these warranties or guarantees shall be expressed, and how they shall be used or mentioned in advertising or labelling of goods.

This standard sets requirements for the performance, dimensions, labelling, sampling and testing of the following paper products represented for use in personal hygiene and cleaning: (a) facial tissues; (b) paper napkins; (c) paper towels roll or sheet form. Toilet tissue in rolls is covered by a separate standard.

This standard defines technical terms relating to textiles and clothing.

  This standard specifies requirements for dusting powder prepared from a blend of materials to produce the characteristics set out in clause 2. It does not apply to aerosols.

This standard specifies the requirements for baby powder prepared from a blend of materials to produce the characteristics set out in Clause 4. It applies to baby powder used for newborns (birth to 1 month), infants (1 month to 1 year), and young children (1 year through 6 years). It does not apply to aerosols.

This standard applies to electric cooking and heating appliances and to electric ,motor-operated or magnetically-driven appliances for household and similar purposes, including office machines.
