Standards
This standard specifies the requirements for cord sets and power-supply
cords employing molded-on or assembled-on fittings, rated 600 V maximum, and
intended for use in non-hazardous locations in accordance with the National
Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. It also specifies the requirements for molded-on
general-use attachment plugs and cord connectors etc.
This Standard specifies the requirements for single-conductor and multiple-conductor thermoset-insulated wires and cables rated 600 V, 1000 V, 2000 V, and 5000 V, for use in accordance with the rules of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70, in Guyana. See Annex A for the complete list of types and voltage ratings covered by this Standard and the specific electrical codes for which they are intended, and Annex B for a summary of construction and test requirements for these types. Table 1 provides a summary of the maximum conductor temperature, voltage ratings, and the number of insulated conductors for the types to which this Standard applies.
This Standard also specifies the requirements for submersible pump cables, with or without jackets, in Deep Well Submersible Water-Pump Cable, Section 7. No type-letter designations are assigned to these cables.
Products within this Standard might have applications not covered by the electrical codes listed in 1.1.
1.1 This Standard specifies the requirements for 600 V single-conductor, thermoplastic-insulated wires and cables, for use as follows: In Guyana, in accordance with ANSI/NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (NEC).Note: See Annex A for the complete list of wire types and voltage ratings covered by this Standard and the specific electrical codes for which they are intended.
These requirements cover attachment plugs, receptacles, cord connectors, inlets, current taps provided with wiring terminals for flexible cord, and flatiron and appliance plugs – all intended forconnection to a branch circuit for use in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
This standard contains specific details of the conductors, of the insulation, of the jackets and other coverings, and of the methods of sample preparation, of specimen selection and conditioning, and of measurement and calculation that are required in wire and cable standards1.2 The requirements for the particular materials, construction, performance, and marking of an individual type of wire, cable, or flexible cord are stated in the standard covering the finished type. They are not part of this reference standard.1.3 In each case in which an element of this standard does not apply, the standard covering the finished type so states and specifies what does apply.
This standard applies to pin and sleeve type plugs, receptacles, power inlets, and connectors, rated up to 800 amperes and up to 600 volts ac or dc, and which may include up to eight pilot contacts. These devices are intended to provide power from branch circuits, or are for direct connection to the branch circuit in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code Part I, the National Electrical Code (NEC),ANSI/NFPA 70, and the Mexican Electrical Code, NOM 001 SEDE, using copper conductors, for use in either indoor or outdoor nonhazardous locations. In Canada, the terminals of a device intended to accommodate aluminum conductors also comply with CSA C22.2 No. 65.
These requirements cover low-voltage ac power circuit breakers as follows: a) Stationary-mounted or draw out-mounted types, b) 2-pole, 3-pole, and 4-pole constructions, c) Manually operated or power operated, and) With or without electromechanical or solid-state type trip device. Revised 1.1 effective April 13, 2017.
The requirements in this standard apply to a low-voltage landscape lighting system and components that consist of an isolating type power unit, low voltage cable or flexible cord, and luminaires. The equipment is intended to be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70,Article 411.1.1 revised February 24, 2014.
These requirements apply to low voltage lighting systems and components intended for permanent installation and for use in locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, Article 411.1.2 These requirements cover: a) Power units in which output is limited to 25 A and below the risk of electric shock voltage levels as defined in 3.19; and b) Class 2, exposed bare conductor, POE, and other low-voltage luminaires and lighting systems.
This standard applies to metallic OUTLET BOXES, flush-DEVICE BOXES, FLOOR BOXES, CONCRETE BOXES, EXTENSIONRINGS, covers, CONDUIT BODIES, BAR HANGERS, bar-hanger assemblies, and all accessories whose principal function is for support of boxes. The products covered by this standard are intended for installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70, the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Part I, and the Standard for Electrical Installations, NOM-001-SEDE.
