Standards

1.1 These requirements cover aluminum (ERMC-A) and stainless steel (ERMC-SS) electrical rigid metal conduit, nipples, elbows, and couplings in 12 – 155 (3/8 – 6) trade sizes for use as metal raceway for the installation of wires and cables in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1, NOM- 001-SEDE, Standard for Electrical Installations, and NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (see Reference Item No. 1, Annex A). It is the user’s responsibility to determine the appropriate product for the application.

1.1    These requirements cover the installation of lightning protection systems on all types of structures other than structures used for the production, handling, or storage of ammunition, explosives, flammable liquids or gases, and other explosive ingredients including dust.

1.2    These requirements apply to lightning protection systems that are complete and cover all parts of a structure. Partial systems are not covered by this standard.

 
1.4    Adjacent structures shall be considered separate structures.

1.5    Adjacent structures with lightning protection shall be considered part of the structure if the adjacent structure’s lightning protection system complies with this standard and is connected to the lightning protection system of the structure in accordance with Section 10.4.

1.7    Free standing Walkways shall be considered an adjacent structure under the following conditions:

     a)  It is separated by a fire wall and conductive media that is shared by both facilities has an SPD in accordance with Section 13.

1.8      This standard does not cover lightning protection for:

       a)  Electric transmission lines or open air distribution racks,

       b)  Outdoor substations or switch yards, and

       c)  Electric generators unenclosed by a building other enclosed structure.

1.9    Enclosed generators and conventional building structures at or associated with generators or power plants, etc. are covered.

1.1    These requirements cover industrial control panels intended for general industrial use, operating from a voltage of 1000 volts or less. This equipment is intended for installation in ordinary locations, in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, where the ambient temperature does not exceed 40°C (104°F) maximum.

This International Standard specifies requirements for metallic, non-metallic and composite cable ties and their associated fixing devices used for the management and support of wiring systems in electrical installations.

Cable ties and associated fixing devices may also be suitable for other applications and where so used, regard should be taken of any additional requirements.

This standard does not contain requirements that evaluate any electrical insulation properties of the cable tie or mechanical protection of the cables provided by the cable tie.

This standard does not consider the mechanical interface of a fixing device to a solid surface such as a wall or ceiling.

This CARICOM Regional Standard establishes requirements for environmental management systems (EMS) to enable tourism establishments to formulate a policy, objectives and minimum performance requirements based on best environmental management practice.

It is intended for establishments providing tourism related services that wish to implement and maintain an EMS and demonstrate such conformance.

This standard does not apply to organisations such as government ministries, regulatory departments and agencies, associations and statutory bodies that do not provide a tourism related service.

This standard specifies requirements for an energy management and efficiency programme to be implemented at tourism establishments. It provides the basis to enable these tourism establishments to review their energy consumption and implement efficiency measures thus minimizing energy use.

This standard does not apply to organizations such as government ministries, regulatory departments and agencies, associations and statutory bodies that do not provide a tourism related service.

This CARICOM Regional Standard provides requirements for implementation and maintenance of a food safety and sanitation programme for tourism establishments.

While these requirements may be applicable to other establishments where food is prepared and served, for the purposes of this document the standard applies to all food premises which are part of the tourism establishment.

This standard applies to structures, and food transport vehicles and associated equipment, fixtures and fittings used by the food business in the tourism establishment.

This standard does not apply to organisations such as government ministries, regulatory departments and agencies, associations and statutory bodies that do not provide a tourism related service.

This CARICOM Regional Standard specifies requirements for a water treatment management and efficiency programme for tourism establishments including:

a)    the definition of terms common to water service providers;

b)    basic requirements for drinking water supply and treatment systems;

c)     guidelines for objectives, service assessment criteria and related performance indicators;

d)    benchmarks for measuring performance of water management, treatment and efficiency.

This standard does not apply to:

a)    organisations such as government ministries, regulatory departments and agencies, associations and statutory bodies that do not provide a tourism related service; and

b)    objectives set forth by the national water authority and other relevant agencies which are to be achieved through implementation of national standards and compliance obligations. 

This CARICOM Regional Standard provides requirements for the implementation and maintenance of a solid waste management programme for tourism establishments.

This standard does not apply to:

a)    organisations such as government ministries, regulatory departments and agencies, associations and statutory bodies that do not provide a tourism related service; and

b)    solid solutions, solids in solutions and non-solid waste.

EXAMPLE   Solid solutions include construction steel, brass and amalgam waste which may arise from construction, plumbing, dentistry and other activities. 

This CARICOM Regional Standard specifies requirements for the management of sewage including collection, treatment and disposal, and other effluents generated at tourism establishments.

This standard does not apply to organisations such as government ministries, regulatory departments and agencies, associations and statutory bodies that do not provide a tourism related service.
