Standards
These requirements cover enclosed and open-type Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) designed for repeated limiting of transient voltage surges as specified in the standard on 50 or 60 Hz power circuits not exceeding 1000 V and for PV applications up to 1500 V dc and designated as follows: Type 1 – One port, permanently connected SPDs, except for watt-hour meter socket enclosures, intended for installation between the secondary of the service transformer and the line side of the service equipment overcurrent device, as well as the load side, including watthour meter socket enclosures and Molded Case SPDs intended to be installed without an external overcurrent protective device. Type 1 SPDs for use in PV systems can be connected between the PV array and the main service disconnect.
The requirements of this standard cover molded-case circuit breakers, circuit breaker and ground-fault circuit-interrupters, fused circuit breakers, high-fault protectors, and high-fault modules. These circuit breakers are specifically intended to provide service entrance, feeder, and branch circuit protection in accordance with the National Installation Codes in Annex B, Ref. No.1. This standard also covers instantaneous-trip circuit breakers (circuit interrupters) specifically intended for use as part of a combination motor controller in accordance with the National Installation Codes in Annex B, Ref. No. 1.
1.1 These requirements cover molded-case circuit breakers, molded-case switches, and circuit-breaker enclosures rated up to 1500 V dc, intended for use with photovoltaic (PV) systems and Ref. No. 1 of Annex B.1.2 These requirements are intended to be used in conjunction with the requirements in Ref. No. 2 of Annex B, except as modified or supplemented by this Standard.1.3 These requirements do not cover molded-case circuit breakers or molded-case switches intended for use in battery circuits.
1.1 This Standard applies to grounding and bonding equipment for use in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, CSA C22.1, in Canada, the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, in the United States, or the Standard for Electrical Installations, NOM-001-SEDE, in Mexico.
This standard specifies the requirements for cord sets and power-supply
cords employing molded-on or assembled-on fittings, rated 600 V maximum, and
intended for use in non-hazardous locations in accordance with the National
Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. It also specifies the requirements for molded-on
general-use attachment plugs and cord connectors etc.
These requirements cover the shielded and no shielded medium-voltage power cables that are described in Tables 1.1 (single-conductor) and 1.2 (multiple-conductor). Multiple-conductor cables may include one or more individually jacketed non-conductive optical-fiber members. These electrical andhybrid electrical and optical-fiber cables are for use (optical and electrical functions associated in the case of a hybrid cable) in accordance with Article 328 and other applicable parts of the National Electrical Code (NEC), ANSI/NFPA 70.
This Standard specifies the requirements for single-conductor and multiple-conductor thermoset-insulated wires and cables rated 600 V, 1000 V, 2000 V, and 5000 V, for use in accordance with the rules of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70, in Guyana. See Annex A for the complete list of types and voltage ratings covered by this Standard and the specific electrical codes for which they are intended, and Annex B for a summary of construction and test requirements for these types. Table 1 provides a summary of the maximum conductor temperature, voltage ratings, and the number of insulated conductors for the types to which this Standard applies.
This Standard also specifies the requirements for submersible pump cables, with or without jackets, in Deep Well Submersible Water-Pump Cable, Section 7. No type-letter designations are assigned to these cables.
Products within this Standard might have applications not covered by the electrical codes listed in 1.1.
1.1 This Standard specifies the requirements for 600 V single-conductor, thermoplastic-insulated wires and cables, for use as follows: In Guyana, in accordance with ANSI/NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (NEC).Note: See Annex A for the complete list of wire types and voltage ratings covered by this Standard and the specific electrical codes for which they are intended.
These requirements cover attachment plugs, receptacles, cord connectors, inlets, current taps provided with wiring terminals for flexible cord, and flatiron and appliance plugs – all intended forconnection to a branch circuit for use in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
This standard contains specific details of the conductors, of the insulation, of the jackets and other coverings, and of the methods of sample preparation, of specimen selection and conditioning, and of measurement and calculation that are required in wire and cable standards1.2 The requirements for the particular materials, construction, performance, and marking of an individual type of wire, cable, or flexible cord are stated in the standard covering the finished type. They are not part of this reference standard.1.3 In each case in which an element of this standard does not apply, the standard covering the finished type so states and specifies what does apply.
