Standards

This standard specifies the requirements for cord sets and power-supply cords employing molded-on or assembled-on fittings, rated 600 V maximum, and intended for use in non-hazardous locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. It also specifies the requirements for molded-on general-use attachment plugs and cord connectors etc.

These requirements cover the shielded and no shielded medium-voltage power cables that are described in Tables 1.1 (single-conductor) and 1.2 (multiple-conductor). Multiple-conductor cables may include one or more individually jacketed non-conductive optical-fiber members. These electrical andhybrid electrical and optical-fiber cables are for use (optical and electrical functions associated in the case of a hybrid cable) in accordance with Article 328 and other applicable parts of the National Electrical Code (NEC), ANSI/NFPA 70.

This Standard specifies the requirements for single-conductor and multiple-conductor thermoset-insulated wires and cables rated 600 V, 1000 V, 2000 V, and 5000 V, for use in accordance with the rules of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70, in Guyana. See Annex A for the complete list of types and voltage ratings covered by this Standard and the specific electrical codes for which they are intended, and Annex B for a summary of construction and test requirements for these types. Table 1 provides a summary of the maximum conductor temperature, voltage ratings, and the number of insulated conductors for the types to which this Standard applies.

This Standard also specifies the requirements for submersible pump cables, with or without jackets, in Deep Well Submersible Water-Pump Cable, Section 7. No type-letter designations are assigned to these cables.

Products within this Standard might have applications not covered by the electrical codes listed in 1.1.

The requirements in this standard apply to a low-voltage landscape lighting system and components that consist of an isolating type power unit, low voltage cable or flexible cord, and luminaires. The equipment is intended to be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70,Article 411.1.1 revised February 24, 2014.

These requirements cover aluminum (ERMC-A) and stainless steel (ERMC-SS) electrical rigid metal conduit, nipples, elbows, and couplings in 12 – 155 (3/8 – 6) trade sizes for use as metal raceway for the installation of wires and cables in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1, NOM-001-SEDE, Standard for Electrical Installations, and NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (see Reference Item No. 1, Annex A). It is the user’s responsibility to determine the appropriate product for the application.

These requirements cover nonmetallic outlet boxes, conduit bodies, flush-device boxes, extension rings, covers, floor boxes, floor nozzles, and concrete boxes to be employed in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 701.2 These requirements do not cover boxes and covers for use in hazardous locations as defined in the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.1.3 These requirements do not cover cabinets and cutout boxes.

These requirements cover wire binding screw terminals of receptacles and switches rated 15 or 20 A intended for use with solid conductor aluminum building wire, and that require direct connection of wiring conductor(s) to the binding head screw terminal(s) prior to insertion of the device in an outlet box.1.2 These performance requirements for wire binding screw terminals are in addition to the requirements for the products covered by the Standard for Attachment Plugs and Receptacles, UL 498, and the Standard for General-Use Snap Switches, UL 20.

Requirements contained in this Standard cover controls of the light-sensitive or presence-sensitive types, or both; for indoor or outdoor service; intended for the control of indoor or outdoor loads up to maximum of 20 A and maximum 347 V; intended for installations on 50 Hz or 60 HZ systems or DC upto 60 V (for US); and DC up to 42.4 V (for Canada); and intended to be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70, the Canadian Electrical Code (CE Code) Part I, CSA C22.2 No0, and NOM 001 SEDE.

1.1 These requirements cover flat-plate photovoltaic modules and panels intended for installation on or integral with buildings, or to be freestanding (that is, not attached to buildings), in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, and Model Building Codes. 1.2 These requirements cover modules and panels intended for use in systems with a maximum system voltage of 1500 V or less. 1.3 These requirements also cover components intended to provide electrical connection to and mounting facilities for flat-plate photovoltaic modules and panels
